So... yeah....

So there's this thing called "middle age." And overall, it's not bad, but in some ways, it really sucks.

Weight gain, aches, pains, etc. - These suck. It also sucks when you're getting a treadmill test and the doc is telling you that you should really consider trying a new lifestyle.

That's what happened to Dan in December, so off we went (after a week of food and drink debauchery with our friends, Pam and Doug Walker) into an eight-week plan of eating differently. And by differently, I mean drastically differently: no dairy no animal products, no alcohol. We considered suicide instead, but thought that might be a little drastic. So on Thursday, January 4 (really on January 3 for me, because I was doing colonoscopy prep and I think that I should get credit for something out of that misery), we chucked our lifetime styles of eating and went vegan.

Yep. Vegan. Plant-based. One (or two) of "those" people.

And so this blog will feature not only our bitching and whining (I'm sure that my friends are already tired of it) but recipes/places that we've tried and found to be good. Unlike many bloggers, I will post the recipes at the top of the blog posting. (It drives me bananas to have to scroll/read through an entire posting to get to the recipe... I don't really care how your parrot was on your shoulder talking to you while you made your quinoa. Anyway, that's disgusting. I would not want to eat at your house.) I don't know what Dan will do... and there's really no telling, is there?
